We kick! We kick a lot! Taekwondo originated in Korea and is the “way of the hand and the foot”. We punch, we do all types of hand strikes and we kick! We teach and have a curriculum specific to self-defense. We also include rolling & falling, board breaking, sparring, forms and leadership. If a student is interested, we have a competition team that competes at the State through International Level. We ensure that students leave class each time headed towards a higher level and knowing what they need to work on. We weave the 5 tenets of Taekwondo through everything we do - Courtesy, Indomitable Spirit, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Integrity.

Leadership Training is a valuable part of our curriculum and a backbone of our school. We provide our advanced belt students with intentional opportunities to practice leadership.
We recognize that you don’t just show up wearing your black belt and suddenly know how to lead others. So, we provide this valuable training prior to black belt and it is provided as part of our regular class tuition. There are no extra fees.
You will complete your leadership training program before you enter the black belt prep class. In this program, not only do you learn to lead more effectively, you will also find that working with the beginning students, under the supervision and umbrella of the Class Instructor, cements your own knowledge.
"A black belt should know how to lead. We teach them."

Our students learn to be leaders amongst their peers, in their schools, in the workplace and in their communities.
One way our students intentionally practice what they learn through our Leadership Training is coordinating their own service project. You choose a project that is meaningful to you and that gives back to the community. Coordinating and implementing your project, with the guidance of your instructors, gives you real life leadership skills.
Much like a project manager, you coordinate externally with the organization you choose to serve and internally with your instructors and fellow students. You schedule, communicate needs and opportunities, recruit, train, assign, and inspire others to see the value of your project so they will choose to come alongside you. You show them why your project is worth their time and then you make it so!
As an added reward, these projects draw our school together to work towards a common goal. This helps us to be a family – the Shiba TKD family.
